Arrive at any time in Lima. We will meet you and escort you to your hotel for the evening, and will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have, including suggestions for restaurants for your first meal in Peru.

Today you will have a free day in Lima, which is a chance to recover from any jetlag you may have from your long-haul flight. Your hotel is in the Lima district of Miraflores, which is a modern district famous for its artesan markets, great selection of restaurants and bars, and the views over the Pacific Ocean from Parque del Amor. The ancient pyramid-ruin of Huaca Pucllana is within walking distance from central Miraflores, and for those looking for fine-dining there are countless world-class restaurants serving modern fusion cuisine.

At the appropriate time we will meet you in your hotel and will escort you to Lima airport, from where you will take a flight to Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire. In Cusco we will escort you to your hotel and the remainder of your time will be free time for you to relax and to start to acclimatise to the altitude.

The colonial city centre of Cusco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the central region of Cusco is a beautiful Andean city packed full of Inca streets, colonial architecture, cathedrals, artesan markets, art galleries, museums and sights worth exploring. Enjoy a free day in the city to give you time to visit sights that aren't included in the remainder of your holiday.

Today you will go on a city tour of Cusco and the surrounding area. The tour allows you to visit some of the larger and more impressive Inca sights that are on the outskirts of the city, such as Tambomachay and the important site of Sacsayhuaman, as well as places within the city itself including Cusco's famous cathedral and the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha).

The Sacred Valley stretches from the town of Pisac, near Cusco, all the way to Ollantaytambo and onwards to Machu Picchu. The valley is a beautiful place, set within the Andes mountains and featuring rolling hills, altiplano-style highlands, and distant snowy mountains. The Sacred Valley tour is an epic journey through the valley. The first stop on the tour is the traditional village of Chinchero where local Chinchero villagers will show you practical examples of their famous and traditional crafts techniques. You will also visit the colonial church in the village, and visit the nearby Inca ruins. After Chinchero you will continue through the valley to the Inca site of Moray, famous for its circular terraced depressions, thought to be an Inca experiment to trial growing different crops at differing climates. Next you will visit Maras, where one side of a steep valley has been converted into hundreds upon hundreds of salt pans over many hundred years - it is a wonderful sight to behold. Finally you will journey towards the end of the Sacred Valley and will arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo, which is a traditional Inca town with a dominating Inca terraced complex overlooking the town. You will tour the Inca ruin, before returning to the Sacred Valley to spend the night amidst the incredible scenery of this part of Peru.

Today is a highlight of your holiday to Peru, as you will tour the incredible and iconic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We will collect you very early in the morning from your hotel, and you will journey by train from Ollantaytambo station to the town of Machu Picchu Pueblo, which is the service-town for Machu Picchu itself. The train is an excellent way to travel to Machu Picchu, as the journey passes Inca terraced landscape, snowy Andean-mountain peaks and traditional Andean farmland. During your tour of this modern Wonder of the World you will visit all of the important areas of the ruin, including the Temple of the Sun and Intihuatana Sundial, and the guide will explain more about the history of the Inca Empire. After the tour has concluded you will have free time to explore by yourselves to grab some final photos before returning to Machu Picchu Pueblo where you will have some lunch and will have time to explore the town and pick up some souvenirs before returning to Cusco by train later in the afternoon.

We will collect you from your hotel in Cusco and will escort you to Cusco airport so you can take your return flight to Lima, where we will meet you and escort you back to your hotel in Miraflores. The remainder of the day will be free time for you to pick up some last minute souvenirs, enjoy your last Pisco Sour cocktail, and soak up the atmosphere of Miraflores.
