Holiday Itinerary
When you arrive in Lima International Airport we will meet you in the arrivals lounge and we will escort you to your hotel which will be in the fabulous coastal district of Miraflores. Our guide will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have about Lima or the remainder of your trip. The remainder of the evening will be free time for you to enjoy your first meal in the capital of Peru.

Today you will have a free day in Lima, which is the perfect opportunity for you to explore the district of Miraflores. This district is famous for its excellent selection of world-class restaurants, its artesan crafts stalls, Larcomar cliff-top shopping mall, and "Huaca Pucllana" which is a 3000 year-old ancient pyramid in the heart of the city.

Today we will meet you in your hotel and will escort you to Lima airport for you to take a flight to Cusco in the heart of the Andes. Choose from either a morning or evening flight to give you more time to enjoy either Lima or Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco we will escort you to your hotel and the remainder of your time will be free to start to acclimatise to the altitude.

The colonial city centre of Cusco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and we highly recommend spending time exploring the streets, shops, markets, cafes, galleries and museums that are hidden-away down the winding pictureque Inca streets of Cusco. A free day in Cusco is also a good idea to allow you time to acclimatise to the altitude before embarking on any tours.

Cusco is packed full of historical sites, and today you will embark on a city tour to visit some of the larger Inca fortresses on the outskirts of the city. You will visit the large ruin of Sacsayhuaman, famous for its giant stone-masonry (some of the stones weigh over 100 tonnes), as well as nearby Tambomachay. You will also visit the ruin of Qorikancha in the heart of Cusco. This place was once the most important Inca site in the Inca Empire, and it was substantially changed during the Spanish colonialisation.

The Sacred Valley of the Inca is a beautiful and important place in the history of the Inca Empire. Our full day tour is a superb was to learn more about the Inca people, visit more of the important archaeological sites they left behind, as well as admire the stunning scenery in this part of the Andes. The tour first visits the Andean village of Chinchero, which dates from Inca times and is home to some small Inca ruins and an ancient colonial-church. As well as visiting these places you will also meet local villagers and observe traditional crafts techniques. The tour then continues to Maras, where a valley has been converted over many hundreds of years into a network of hundreds of salt-pans creating a stunning spectacle. Later you will tour the Inca ruin of Moray, one of the most unique Inca sites in Cusco, which consists of circular terraced ruins sunk into the ground. The final stop on the tour is the Inca town of Ollantaytambo, at the end of the Sacred Valley, and here you will tour the fabulous Inca fortress that dominates the town, before returning to the Sacred Valley to spend the night in this beautiful and special place.

In the morning we will escort you from your hotel in the Sacred Valley the short distance to Ollantaytambo train station from where you will travel by train to Machu Picchu. Make sure to keep your eyes open during the train journey, which passes wonderful scenery and some smaller terraced Inca ruins along the way. The train line ends at the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, and when you arrive our guide will meet you off the train and will escort you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu for a full tour of the ruin. You will visit each of the most important parts of the site, learning more about the Inca Empire and about Machu Picchu itself, and after the tour you will have some time to explore the ruin by yourselves. After the tour has finished you will return to Aguas Calientes by bus for lunch and will have time to buy some souvenirs in the artesan market before returning to Cusco later in the afternoon by train.

The "Ruta del Sol" translates as the Sun Road, and this road runs between Cusco and Lake Titicaca. Today you will journey on a full-day tour travelling the length of this road as you travel towards Lake Titicaca, stopping along the way at many interesting historical and cultural sites during the journey, including the Inca ruin of Raqchi, an ancient and beautiful colonial church at Andahuaylillas, and a viewpoint overlooking the incredible Peruvian altiplano. The tour concludes in the Peruvian city of Puno, on the banks of Lake Titicaca, and we will escort you to your hotel for the evening.

Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world, at an altitude of 3812 metres, and the polar light at this altitude transforms the waters into beautiful shades of blue and turquoise. Today you will join one of the shared tour-boats on the lake to embark on a tour across this wonderul lake to visit the famous floating Uros Islands, home to the Uru People. This society has been living on these floating man-made islands made of totora reeds since before the time of the Inca Empire. In the afternoon you will go on a tour to the funerary towers of Sillustani. These ancient stone towers are situated in a stunning location over-looking Lake Umayo, and provide a great scenic vista of the altiplano region of Peru.

In the morning we will collect you from your hotel on the banks of Lake Titicaca and we will escort you from Puno to the nearby town of Juliaca, which is where the regional airport can be found. From here you will take a flight to Lima. In Lima we will escort you to your hotel in Miraflores, where the remainder of the day will be free time for you to enjoy your final day in Peru.
