Classic Chile - 12 days

Arrive in Chile's capital city Santiago in the morning. We will meet you on arrival and escort you to your hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a city tour to discover the capital, visiting the central downtown region and the main Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and Government Palace before visiting old bohemian Santiago and the famous landmark of San Cristobal Hill for incredible views of the Andes. Note: if you have an afternoon flight arrival add an extra night in Santiago to enjoy the city tour.

Full day tour to the coastal region near Santiago. Visit the "garden city" of Viña del Mar renowned for its beautiful beaches, flower gardens and parks, before continuing to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valparaiso where you will explore this vivid 16th century city to admire its fascinating architectural style and the colourful homes and buildings dotted around the hills surrounding the central port. After the tour we will escort you back to your hotel in Santiago.

This morning we will escort you back to Santiago airport for a domestic flight north to the city of Calama. Here we will meet you and escort you to your hotel in the famous traditional town of San Pedro de Atacama. In the afternoon enjoy a tour to visit Salt Mountain, Death Valley (also known as Mars Valley) and Moon Valley in the Atacama Desert and to admire the sunset in this incredible landscape in the beautiful wilderness in this desert region of northern Chile.

Full day excursion to visit the beautiful lagoons and lakes of the Atacama desert. Starting the day with a visit to the traditional Chilean town of Toconao the tour continues to the high altitude region of the Atacama to visit the stunning Chaxa Lagoon on the Atacama salt flat. This is a popular grazing spot for pink flamingos and these graceful birds can be spotted here. The journey continues to an altitude of 4500m to enter the Flamingos National Reserve to visit Meñiques and Miscanti Lagoons, these stunning lakes are nestled among impressive conical volcanoes. Lunch is included in a local restaurant.

Depart early this morning to visit the impressive Tatio Geysers. This giant geyser field is best viewed at sunrise when the early morning rays rise over the Andes mountains and dance off the rising steam columns of the geysers. You'll embark on a guided walk among the geysers before being able to bathe in the natural waters if you wish. The return journey to San Pedro de Atacama passes the Torcopuri and Saiecabur Volcanoes, and the remainder of the afternoon is free time to explore the town.

This morning you will return to Calama airport for a flight to Punta Arenas (via Santiago), a wonderful town in the heart of Patagonia and the access point for the Torres del Paine National Park. If you are travelling on a clear day where possible choose a window seat (the left hand side usually has the better views) to have the chance to admire the stunning landscapes of Patagonia during the journey. On arrival in Punta Arenas you will meet your guide before travelling onward into Torres del Paine National Park and your lodge which is your fully inclusive full board accommodation for the next three nights.

This morning you will leave Torres del Paine and return by road to the town of Punta Arenas to enjoy a tour of the city. The tour begins at Cerro Mirador Hill for stunning views of the city, the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego Island, before continuing to visit the most important and historic sights within the city including the Museo Salesiano which explores the history of Patagonia and a visit to the historic Palacio Sara Braun traditional residence. Note that museums are closed on Mondays in Punta Arenas.

Today you will return to the Chilean capital city of Santiago. We will meet you at your hotel to escort you to Punta Arenas airport from where you will enjoy the return flight along the Andes north to Santiago. On arrival we will meet you and escort you to your hotel where the remainder of the day will be free time for you to explore this wonderful city.

This morning travel from Santiago to the famous Maipo Valley to visit the Concha y Toro Winery, one of the best and most famous wineries in Chile. Here you will tour the colonial grounds, cellar and vineyards before enjoying a complimentary wine tasting. After the tour is concluded you will return to your hotel in Santiago.

Today is your final day in Chile and at the appropriate time we will collect you from your hotel and escort you to Santiago airport for your return flight home.
